We are currently looking to recruit a Site Technical Manager for an established company based in Co. Wexford. This is a great opportunity for career progression, to develop and grow with a rapidly expanding and innovative business. The Role: Lead and develop a team of professional food technologists/QC’s. Influence decision making to ensure food safety and quality needs of the business are being met. Ensure that the company is kept aware of legislative & customer constraints on the business and all standards are adhered to. Ensure the supplier management process is maintained in line with Group Procedures. Review and evaluate suppliers to give feedback on performance and quality. Manage the approval of new raw material, packaging or miscellaneous suppliers in line with Group Procedures. Implement and maintain detailed specifications and quality standards for all finished products, knowledge of various software programmes used by customers required. Ensure that internal specifications for the business are developed and maintained in line with changing IT requirements. Manage queries or complaints from customers. Meet with customers and represent the companies’ technical expertise when needed. Ensure procedures, process documentation and systems in use comply with customer and best practice requirements. Implement the internal audit programme. Lead the management of external audits for food safety and quality audits for customers, governing bodies. Ensure raw material, process and finished product evaluation and verification is completed as required within production. Deal with non-conformances (internal and external) and drive root cause analysis to put sustainable corrective actions. Setting KPI targets and objectives for the department and wider company and ensuring their effective measurement. Lead the Innovation (NPD) team for the successful launch of new products into the market place. Recognise and implement opportunities for Quality improvement in both manufacturing and business processes, in the Continuous Improvement ethos. The Person: 5+ years in a similar role in a FMCG or food retail environment, with knowledge of BRC/TFMS standards required. Third level degree in a Food Science related subject. Lead auditor certification is preferential. HACCP certification is essential. Effective presentation and communication skills (verbal and written). High impact and credible with all levels of the organisation. Excellent proficiency in the use of MS Office tools. Proven leadership skills and demonstrated strategic thinking and perspective. Ability to work to tight deadlines and handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Proven experience of directly managing and developing people / teams in a dynamic environment achieved through practical problem-solving abilities. Ability to influence and gain commitment at all levels of the organisation through a collaborative and customer focused approach. Strong negotiation skills and legislative knowledge. Strong emotional intelligence skills as well as being perceptive and intuitive. Hands-on approach to developing solutions.
