Chief Executive Officer. South East BIC (SEBIC. South East BIC is a regional organisation, supporting the generation and development of new innovative enterprises and assists existing SMEs to innovate and expand, providing a range of high qualityspecialised business consultancy services and active incubation for High Potential Start Up companies (HPSU’s) and existing SMEs based in the South East region. Due to the pending retirement of the existing incumbent, SEBIC has retained Hartley People Recruitment to appoint a CEO to facilitate the continued success and further growth of the company into the future. Job Purpose. The CEO of the South East BIC is responsible for both the strategic management and the day-to-day supervision of the BIC, ensuring compliance to the annual budget, the coordination of key activities and the leadership of the operational team to deliver on the organisation’s core objectives and functions. He / she will play a key role in the development, ongoing evolution and implementation of the company’s 3 year strategy plan and help set the vision for the organisation’s future role and delivery of services to HPSUs and existing SMEs. He / she will also be responsible for ensuring the continuous improvement of SEBIC activities and its market position, stakeholder engagement and value for money, whilst also promoting its visibility and ensuring its institutional reputation. The SEBIC office is based in the IDA Business Park, Cork Road, Waterford. Summary of Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities. General management of the SEBIC and coordination of its activities/services, including reporting to the Board of Directors. In conjunction with the Board, develop and execute the new 3 year strategic plan for the SEBIC. Promoting entrepreneurship in the region, increasing visibility of SEBIC services and ultimately extending the services to an ever growing number of SEBIC supported companies. Strengthening strategic partnerships and developing new relationships with relevant third-parties. Facilitating collaboration between stakeholders where potential synergies exist. Maintaining compliant & reliable administrative & financial management of the SEBIC. Providing strong leadership and empowering the operational team to achieve the goals and KPIs of the company. Consulting with HPSU’s / clients to deliver the full range of SEBIC’s services. In cooperation with other regional players, encourage and support the development of HPSU’s in the region. The Person. A third level qualification is required at minimum (level 8) OR a recognised Accounting qualification. At least 10 years of demonstrable and progressive professional experience in business, industry, and/or territorial economic development, preferably with experience at an international level (although this is not a pre-requisite. At least 5 years of relevant senior management experience (Business Management / General Management or similar), operating at both strategic and operational levels. Although not a pre-requisite, candidates with a background in Enterprise development would be preferred. Personal Attributes, Competencies, Knowledge and Skills. Essential. Ability to operate at strategic and operational levels. Strong business and analytical skills with commercial acumen and an entrepreneurial style. Politically aware, excellent networking, interpersonal and communication skills. Highly ambitious, motivated and results oriented with the energy, passion and drive to passionately influence entrepreneurship & applied innovation ecosystems across the South East Region. Proven management skills with the ability to manage, motivate and develop people to achieve best results for the company and its stakeholders. Proactive and innovative with developed problem solving skills. Desirable. Knowledge of European policies and public affairs. Strong understanding of the start-up, entrepreneur, and innovation ecosystems. Practical experience in Incubators, Accelerators, Clusters, Innovation Centres, Economic Development Agencies, science and technology parks, and similar organisations is an advantage. Experience of working in or with EU projects. A strong understanding of ICT, ideally supported by relevant experience. The closing date for applications will be Friday the 17th of November 2017.
